I sometimes get free review copies of books from publishers. If you see the tag review copy on a review, it means I’ve read such a copy rather than the final published book. That the book was free will make no difference to my opinion of the work.
I tend not to review books from publishers I work with, although I may well promote some of their other works or works containing friends’ writings. Those posts are tagged pimpage so you can choose to take the recommendation with a large pinch of salt if you wish. Although I tend not to promote stuff I personally don’t like because, well, what’s the point?
